Toddler Tower from 12 Months
Wooden Toddler Tower from 12 Months – Montessori Learning Tower with 360° Safety Rail
Stripe is a wooden toddler tower designed for children from 12 months — the moment a child first pulls themselves up and wants to see what is happening at worktop height. Three permanently mounted platforms, a fixed 360° safety rail, and solid pine construction that weighs 8 kg and stays exactly where you put it.
A 12-month-old cannot yet stand unaided. That is precisely the moment Stripe was designed for.
Stripe is not a piece of furniture that gets put away and brought back out. It is a stable wooden learning tower that lives at the worktop — a permanent part of the daily routine from the first unsteady steps. No hinges, no adjustable parts, nothing that can be set incorrectly. The toddler tower from 1 year that meets the child exactly where they are — and follows them for years. A Montessori learning tower and wooden kitchen helper in one — built for independence through daily participation.
Made from solid pine and Baltic birch plywood in Europe. CE certified. Optimised for the standard 90 cm UK worktop. Directly from Barin Toys' own workshop.
Stripe or Slim — what is the difference?
Both are wooden learning towers from Barin Toys. The choice comes down to your child's age and your kitchen:
Why fixed is the right choice for the youngest
A child of 12–18 months does not yet have the balance or body awareness needed for a piece of furniture that can move or be misadjusted. Stripe combines the stability of a kitchen helper stool with the safety of a full Montessori learning tower — and solves it through construction rather than instructions:
Three platforms — one tower that grows with your child
Stripe arrives with all three platforms already mounted. No loose parts, no hardware to misplace, no storage needed. As your child grows, simply remove the top platform:
What your child does every day
A wooden kitchen helper that is always present — not brought out occasionally, but part of the daily rhythm from the start. As a kitchen step stool for toddlers it earns its place every single morning:
Solid wood — built to be felt
Stripe is not MDF, not laminate, not plastic with a wood-effect print. It is solid pine — craftsmanship you feel the moment you lift it.
Unlike adjustable or foldable alternatives, Stripe is a solid wood toddler tower with no moving parts — nothing to wear down, nothing to misadjust, nothing to replace. Whether you call it a Montessori learning tower, a wooden kitchen helper, or a toddler kitchen stool — the logic is the same: the simplest construction is the most reliable one. A Montessori kitchen helper built for real family life, not an imitation of it.
Find your Stripe
Stripe comes in five colourways — all with the same construction, the same three platforms, the same 90 cm optimisation:
A considered gift for a 1-year-old — from grandparents who know what daily family life actually looks like.
A toddler tower is not a gift for the child — it is a gift for the family. For the parent who lifts their child to the sink ten times a day. For the back that feels it. For the morning that gets lighter when a child can climb up, wash their hands, and take part without being carried. Grandparents who have lived through the toddler years know what genuinely helps. A wooden toddler tower from 12 months is exactly that — not a toy that gets forgotten, but a piece of furniture used every day for years. The gift that earns its place from day one.
Small kitchen or flat? Slim folds to 12 cm, holds 95 kg, and stores behind the kitchen door. From 18 months.

Frequently asked questions about Stripe
Can a toddler tower really be used safely from 12 months?
Yes — but only when the construction is right. A 12-month-old has no balance control and no body awareness yet. That is precisely why Stripe is fixed, with three permanently mounted platforms and a 360° safety rail that cannot be misadjusted. There are no moving parts, no hinges, nothing that can shift under an active child. Stripe can be used from the moment a child can stand with support — the construction carries the safety, not the parent's attention.
Why three fixed platforms instead of one adjustable one?
Three fixed platforms give two things that one adjustable platform cannot: a naturally low centre of gravity and no loose parts. All three platforms are mounted from the start — that weight at the base is what makes Stripe stay put regardless of how the child moves, leans, or pushes. As the child grows, simply remove the top platform. No hardware to misplace, no storage needed, no adjustment to get wrong.
What is the difference between Stripe and Slim?
Stripe is fixed — always present, solid, and heavy, with a permanent 360° safety rail. For children from 12 months in homes with space for a fixed piece of furniture at the worktop. Slim is foldable — 12 cm wide when stored, 95 kg load capacity, used by adults as a kitchen step too. For children from 18 months in flats and homes that need flexibility. Both are solid wood, both CE certified, both made in Europe.
What does my child actually do with Stripe — day to day?
From 12 months: watching and imitating alongside you at the worktop. From around 2 years: washing hands independently, helping with cooking and baking, pouring, stirring, rinsing. From 4 years: more independent at the worktop — actively helping with most tasks. These are not activities you plan. They are daily routines that repeat, and that build independence and good habits for life.
How do I choose the right platform height?
The safety rail should sit at your child's waist height — or slightly above. Start at level 1 (45 cm) from 12 months and adjust as your child grows. Always push the tower flush against the worktop during use — the worktop acts as a natural support and significantly increases stability. Stripe is optimised for the standard 90 cm UK worktop.
Is Stripe a good gift for a 1-year-old?
It is one of the most useful things you can give a family with a toddler. A wooden toddler tower is not a toy that gets forgotten after two weeks — it is a piece of furniture used every single day from the first unsteady steps to school age. For grandparents who want to give something that genuinely makes daily life easier, for parents choosing quality over novelty — Stripe is the gift that earns its place on day one and keeps it for years.
Why are the platforms untreated wood?
It is a deliberate safety choice. Lacquer and paint become slippery as ice when water or juice spills on them. Untreated Baltic birch plywood does the opposite — bare wood gives natural grip even when wet. A child playing with water at the sink has the safest footing on an untreated surface. If the platforms get a stain over time, a light sand with fine-grit paper brings the wood back to clean. No special products, no refinishing — just wood doing what wood does.
Is the paint safe, and how do I clean Stripe?
All painted surfaces use water-based, CE-approved paint with no harmful chemicals — safe for daily contact with children. Wipe clean with a damp cloth. The platforms are deliberately untreated — see above. Solid wood can be lightly sanded and re-treated if deeper marks appear over years of use.
